Cheap Canon HG10 Camcorder Battery BP-2L13
You can truly take advantage of the long recording times offered by HDD video thanks to the long life of the Canon HG10 battery. With all that recording time, you will want to invest in at least one backup battery. You will also help extend your Canon BP-2L13 life compared with leaving the camcorder in regular recording mode.It also helps lower power consumption for longer Canon BP-2L13 battery life. We tested the battery life of the Canon HG10 battery of BP-2L13 battery pack for continuous HDD recording by placing the camcorder in AE mode, turning on OIS, and flipping the LCD screen open. The HG10 s battery lasted 1 hour, 5 minutes. This is a solid battery performance. The HV20 lasted 1 hour, 7 minutes. One additional extended life battery should keep you recording for hours.
Cannon HV20 Battery BP-2L14
The first thing you'll notice about the back of the HV20 is that it's fat and wide. The HV20 Battery is notably broader than the HC7's, but the HV20 battery chamber does not delve into the body as deeply. This is a shame because Canon really skimped on the HV20's viewfinder it's short, has no rubberized eyecup, and cannot be extended or pivoted upward. If you upgrade your power supply, you will be greeted with a whole face full of battery. In addition, the minute dioptric adjuster, to the left of the viewfinder's lens, is nearly impossible to slide. The HC7's viewfinder is wide, retractable, and has a rubberized ring. Are you taking notes, Canon? So far the Sony HDR-HC7 has trumped in the HV20 in design, and with little respite it only continues from here.
To the right of the battery is a strip containing the FireWire and HDMI terminals, housed by a thin, rubberized plastic enclosure. Toward the battery end of the HV20, on top of the LCD screen, is the display button and mini video light/print button. It's a good thing Canon threw a video light button on the HV20, because it would not be worth wasting the time questing through the menu to access it.Toward the battery end of the camcorder, there is a long, shield-like plastic cover.

About 40 minutes of recording time off of a full charge... The battery on our HV20 lasted 107 minutes. In comparison, the battery on the Canon HV10 lasted for 105 minutes and the Sony HDR-HC7 lasted for 120.8 minutes. Well, one extra battery is always good and at least you can find batteries easily for HV20 unlike rootkit-virus Sony's extremely proprietary Info which cost arm and half leg.
We got one impact 2l14 and it works great. we've been fairly impressed with the battery life even with the stock battery. I've been getting about 90min rec time out of the 2l13 and a little more than the impact 2l14. and thats putting the cam on the tripod hitting record and walking away. As soon as payday comes round we'll be picking up a couple more of those too. As a side note we've been using the battery charger that came with my rebel xt(uses NB-2Lh's), and it appears to work fine for charging these batteries.
Canon ZR850 Battery - BP-2L5
The Canon camcorder ZR850 was shipped with CANON BP-2L5. CANON BP-2L5 Batteries Specifications:
- Battery Name : BP-2L5 Batteries
- Battery Type : Li-ion
- Color : Dark grey
- Voltage : 7.4 V
- Capacity : 1500 mAh
- Dimensions : 45.19x33.30x30.20mm
The ZR850 view finder is an uninviting, dome-shaped plastic frame with no soft rubberized coating to comfort the eye. Its ridiculously short length accentuates the bulky protrusion of the Li-ion battery just below. If this isn’t a dodgy design already, just wait until you upgrade to a bigger battery and attempt to bring your eye closer to the viewfinder. we understand Canon’s minimalist design intentions, but I’ve got a fever, and the only prescription is more viewfinder. The dioptric adjustment is located directly under this malnourished viewfinder, and the battery release button sits to its right. Having the controls on the LCD panel gives the LCD-craving point-and-shooter a bit of an advantage over the seasoned intermediate who wishes to conserve battery power and make use of the view finder.
